Great news

The title above says it all. Big, big news for everyone who has hung tight with us for this wild ride I humbly call Kralie in the Reel World.

In our last episode we visited Montgomery, Alabama and the seemingly magical locale Jackson Lake Island. With your hand in mine, we investigated several locations used in Tim Burton’s swan song, Big Fish. We felt the queasy exhilaration of being at the scene of a crime. After all, this was where Burton betrayed not just his wellspring of macabre whimsy and genius, but where he also betrayed us, his devotees, by turning into a pale shadow of the gothic talent he promised us he would always be. In this way we were like Ewan McGreger, coming to terms with the fact that our father is an old, bloated hypocrite who was never around when we needed him. Like an onion, we peeled back every layer of what was true and what never could be true.

Heady, but somber stuff, to be sure. That’s why Kralie in the Reel World is doing a 180 degrees with our next episode and setting our sights on Huntsville, Alabama, aka Rocket City, USA.

But we won’t be going alone this time, because along with my assistant Jay Merrick we will be joined by a very well known internet maven. I won’t spoil the surprise, but let’s just say you might remember her from another blog, much more “horrible” than mine, that was all the rage many many years ago.

This collaboration has been in the works for a long time, and it’s looking like it’s finally going to happen. For a while even I didn't think this vision of mine would come to fruition, but I am nothing if not dogged in both filmmaking and in my approach to life. In fact, I am writing this update only minutes after receiving an email from her representative enthusiastically agreeing to make sure she sees it. No doubt she’ll agree. That’s why I’m so comfortable announcing her involvement now!

Who could ask for a lovelier partner as we trace how the race to space set the pace for motion pictures such as Intersteller, The Martian, and Stanley Kubrick's not unimpressive but dated 2001: A Space Odyssey. Prepare to learn a thing or two about how space-age daydreams paved the way to multiple classic and pivotal early entries in the pantheon of joystick bliss. It’s a subject I was eager to research since my creative pursuits and devotion to cinema are always leaving me little time for the distraction that video games provide those with less on their plates in life.
